MidAmerican Energy is replacing 343 miles of low-pressure distribution systems with modern intermediate-pressure distribution systems for nearly 18,000 residential and business customers in the Quad Cities and Iowa City.
Only small areas of low-pressure distribution remain in these cities. Areas within these cities that are not part of the project already have intermediate-pressure systems.
Once this project is completed, MidAmerican will not have any remaining low-pressure systems in our four-state service area.

The purpose of the 16th Street Viaduct reconstruction project is to provide the needed replacement of the current bridge deck, parapets, and lighting as well as spot repairs to the steel support beams. The condition of the existing bridge has deteriorated to the point where an upgrade to those elements is necessary.
The 16th Street Viaduct Bridge intercepts 4th Avenue and 14th Street at street level and passes over existing streets and businesses to its connection with the Arsenal Island Bridge just north of River Drive. The bridge provides direct access for
commuters wishing to travel between Arsenal Island and Moline. Weather, salt used in snow removal, vehicle use, and age have combined to result in deterioration of the bridge deck and the need for repairs. The City of Moline, in cooperation with the Department of the Army, is sponsoring the project. The City of Moline has contracted with IMEG Corporation and TERRA Engineering, Ltd. to complete the preliminary engineering and design for the bridge deck reconstruction.
The estimated construction duration is 16 months. Closures include approximately three months on River Drive and 5-6 months on 4th Avenue. Alternating short-term closures may total three months. Both streets will not be closed at the same time. Funding is provided in part from the Defense Community Infrastructure Pilot Program (DCIP) from the Department of the Army, with the remainder provided by the City.
